Storm water tank

BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals, LLC

BASF uses water for cooling and cleaning as well as to produce its products. We employ different methods for using water sustainably at our sites around the world owing to the regional differences in water availability and quality.

In Port Arthur, BASF is required to collect some of the rain water that falls on the site. Two large tanks are used to store of this rain water from the site before it is send to the refinery for processing in their waste water treatment facility.  Overall, the two tanks have a capacity of about 5,000,000 liters. All other rain water is discharged to the local waterways.
